The holidays are full of memorable experiences. Ever since I was little, I’ve been very blessed to spend my holidays surrounded by loving relatives, good friends, and lots of joy. Some of my fondest holiday memories include my big Italian family, where once a year, everyone would join together to enjoy delicious homemade food, with tunes of Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra playing throughout the house, lots of laughter, and enough Christmas chaos to last you until the next year (the good type of chaos though). And with the holidays come gift giving, which can be so fun! I love searching and finding that perfect present for the people in your life. Giving them a little reminds them that they mean so much to you.
Although, I find that as I get older, I care less about gifting and more about showing people how much they mean to me by spending quality time together. There are so many people that struggle day-after-day to just keep food on the table and a smile on their face. In addition to myself, my friends and family are all very fortunate people. There isn’t one person that doesn’t deserve the world, of course, but there really isn’t one of us that can complain. The other day, someone asked me what my most favorite gift was. It took me awhile. I sat there scrolling through the records in my mind of the past Christmases, millions of gift opening, and blessed holidays. The truth is, I couldn’t think of one gift that was so meaningful that left an impact in my life. All I could think of was the anticipation of the night before Santa came and the smell of my mom’s spinach quiche the next morning; packing my snowboard, boots, and goggles for our annual ski trip to the mountains; and piling in the car to go visit Aunts, Uncles and cousins a couple hours away. My most memorable gift was the gift of having family and friends around me to share the holiday season with. This year, we are supporting a cause that is embracing the holiday spirit and memorable experiences. And, because we believing in giving back, we are teaming up with BlogHer and offering one $50 VISA Gift Card and a $50 donation on behalf of the winner’s name to Feeding America.
